The artist that I got to learn about this week is named Nick Bamford. He is an undergraduate student in his senior year at CSULB. He will be graduating this spring. He is getting his degree in Ceramics in the Bachelor of Fine Arts category. His interests are not very different from what he is currently doing in school which is ceramics and sculpting, but he says that he loves to build things and basically just loves to do art overall.

The art that he is doing has a lot of objects involved in them so everything is very realistic. The objects are all sharp and movable so you can do a lot of things with them. The colors of these pieces are mostly bright and neon colors. There are a lot of lights used in this art so everything is very bright and colorful and that is what he was trying to do with his artwork.

In these pieces of art, the artist is really trying to explore the different context of the objects of art and he is trying to take the black lights and put them into a more well known context so that other people in this day of age can realize what this art is. He also says that he wanted to bring a different dimension to his work then what other people normally do because he was trying to be different with his art. He wanted to challenge himself and that is definitely what he did.

I thought that Nick’s artwork was really cool. When I walked into the art exhibit I definitely didn’t expect to see all of these lights and cool neon colors and I thought it was really cool and interesting. You can see that he really loves what he is doing and it shows with his art. So overall, it was really cool and I felt like I was at a party! Awesome stuff Nick!
